Sport Medicine

Sports Medicine is a field of medicine that relates to the prevention and treatment of injuries and other health problems that affect people who play sports. Injury is inevitable in sport and dance. Approximately 50% of all sports injuries involve the foot and ankle.

The practice of sports medicine involves education of the athlete to not only prevent injury but to also maintain the athlete’s level of condition, while rehabilitating an injury.

When choosing a Podiatrist to treat sports injury, the doctor’s experience, knowledge, enthusiasm, and concern should be to get every athlete and dancer back to their activity as quickly as possible.

Dr. Blank not only treats sports injury but has a background as a dancer, aerobics instructor and fitness and weight training coach.

The First step is the hardest.

Orthotics

Orthotics are custom made prescription insoles, designed to correct the alignment of the joints and bones of the foot, lower leg and spine.

They assist in improving the function of the foot and lower leg. They can slow or alleviate development of many painful conditions.

Fungus Toenails

Evaluating Toenails and finding a proper diagnosis is necessary for proper treatment. Although often diagnosed as fungus, a thickened toenail is not always a fungal nail.

There are many things that can cause a nail to change color, shape, texture, or growth patterns.

A biopsy is the only sure way to know what has caused these changes in the nail.

But it's oh so worth it
